Transparency concerns remain at centre during discussions at SCM Committee meeting

The Committee on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (SCM) held regular and special meetings on 23 April 2024. The need to improve transparency through the submission of timely and complete subsidy notifications was once again a major theme. Committee Chair James Lester (New Zealand) emphasized the critical importance of transparency for the Committee’s operations and highlighted the concerning low rate of compliance with notification obligations. He strongly encouraged members to submit their pending notifications.
