Steyn Admits To Bumrah's Status As "God" As Batters' Carnage Storms IPL

At times where teams are constantly scoring over 200 runs in T20 cricket, becoming a successful bowler has become incredibly difficult. The likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders have arguably put the finest batting performances of the season, putting up scores well above the 200-run mark. Seeing another such outing by SRH in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Delhi Capitals, South Africa legend said that if there was a time he would want to be a bowler, it's today.

Though the past few weeks have been demoralizing for quite a few bowlers, owing to the stunning batting displays by batters in the IPL, Steyn asserted that a good bowler would be considered as 'God' in today's times.

"I could make a joke and say I'm glad I'm retired and no longer bowling, but... It's always a good time to be a bowler, if you can make yourself the best, you'll be a wanted god among mere mortals. The slayer of rampaging runs! Insensitive's have never been higher. I'd wana be a bowler more than anything!", he posed on X (formerly Twitter).

A fan, reacting to Steyn's post, said,"Just shorten it and say, "Be a Jasprit Bumrah!"". The South Africa legend had no hesitation in admitting that Bumrah is one such bowler who is dominating proceedings despite the equation tilting overwhelmingly in favour of batters.

"Well, exactly that," Steyn replied to the fan.

Bumrah is the purple cap holder at present, picking up 13 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 12.84 and an economy rate of 5.96. In times where bowlers are regularly conceding runs at over 10 per over, Bumrah continues to remain mean when it comes to leaking runs.
