Travel distribution platform TBO Tek reported a 12.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net profit to ₹76 Cr for the September quarter of FY27 (Q2 FY27) from ₹67.6 Cr in the year-ago period. Operating revenue rose 52.6% YoY to ₹865.6 Cr.

On a sequential basis, the company’s performance was more muted. Its operating revenue fell 6.5% from ₹925.8 Cr recorded in the June quarter, while net profit fell 8.8% from ₹83.4 Cr.

Including other income of ₹14.8 Cr, total income for the quarter stood at ₹880.4 Cr.

On the other hand, total expenses jumped almost 54.8% to ₹780.7 Cr in Q2 FY27 from ₹504.5 Cr in the corresponding quarter last year. Service fees, the largest expense item, surged49.2% to ₹304.6 Cr, while employee benefits expenses increased 76.8% to ₹190.7 Cr.

TBO Tek reported an exceptional expense of ₹8.14 Cr during the quarter, relating to suspected collusion involving current and former employees of its overseas subsidiary and the holding company.

Based on a preliminary assessment, the company estimated a net financial loss of ₹8.14 Cr and said it had initiated legal action and the process for an insurance claim. The final loss may change after the detailed assessment.

Further, tax expense for the quarter increased 46% YoY to ₹15.5 Cr.  Consequently, profit before tax stood at ₹91.5 Cr, against ₹78.2 Cr in Q2 FY26.

Profit before tax, after accounting for exceptional items, stood at ₹91.5 Cr, up 17% from ₹78.2 Cr in Q2 FY26.

Beyond its financial performance, TBO Tek reported growth across its travel distribution business, with gross transaction value (GTV) rising 31% YoY during the quarter. Its hotels and ancillary business remained the larger contributor, while the airline segment also recorded growth.

The company said the quarter saw broad-based growth across India, Asia-Pacific (APAC), Europe and North America, alongside a recovery in its Middle East business despite geopolitical disruptions and higher fuel prices. It attributed the improvement in the region to potential market share gains, driven by service differentiation and reliability.

In India, both the airline and hotels and ancillary segments recorded growth. The company also reported an increase in monthly transacting buyers (MTBs), with its organic international business seeing a record number of active buyers during the quarter. TBO Tek attributed this to the benefits of its investments in key account management (KAM) hiring made last year.

Commenting on the performance, cofounder and joint managing director Ankush Nijhawan said the platform’s globally diversified source and destination market. Besides, TBO’s India-focused cost base also helped it navigate “macroeconomic headwinds”. He added that its customer relationships and service quality would remain key differentiators as the platform scales.

“Our organic adjusted EBITDA growth continues to outpace the gross profit growth for the second quarter in a row, demonstrating the platform’s structural operating leverage as earlier commercial investments drive greater platform activity without a proportionate increase in costs. These results reinforce our strategy of expanding distribution while using technology to improve productivity and lower our cost to serve,” cofounder and joint MD Gaurav Bhatnagar said.

Shares of TBO Tek ended today’s trading session 3.54% higher at ₹1591.25 apiece on the BSE.
