On the first foreign trip of his third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Italy, attending the summit of the Group of Seven (G7) countries: Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States. The trip assumes significance as a re-elected Modi, albeit with a reduced mandate, will interact with leaders of the West most of whom are facing elections amid global turmoil with Russia and China at the centre of dominant issues. The Western world wants India by its side.
