Xovian Aerospace Raises $2 Mn To Launch RF Satellite

Spacetech startup Xovian Aerospace has secured $2 Mn (about ₹18.7 Cr) in a fresh funding round led by ace investor Ashish Kacholia, with participation from existing backer Inflection Point Ventures (IPV).
Xovian, which is preparing to launch its first AI-native RF (radio frequency) satellite, will deploy the capital for satellite development, strengthening its core engineering and AI teams and forge commercial partnerships.
Founded in 2019 by Ankit Bhateja and Raghav Sharma, Xovian is building an RF intelligence infrastructure. Under this, it is developing proprietary RF satellites and AI-powered “intelligence” that will convert RF data into real-time insights.
Satellite imaging often fails to track ships and aircraft when they go dark. Xovian is looking to address this problem using RF.
Its AI-native RF satellite will have the capacity to capture and decode dynamic signals. It claims its platform enables real-time situational awareness, asset monitoring, and predictive insights by fusing GEOINT (geospatial intelligence) and SIGINT (signals intelligence) into a unified decision intelligence layer.
Xovian aims to assist organisations across maritime, aviation, logistics and defence sectors in locating their assets and determining the surrounding situation for smooth operations. It claims to have indigenously built its radio-based hardware, which will now be deployed in space.
Prior to this round, the Bengaluru-based startup raised $2.5 Mn from Piper Serica, Turbostart, IPV and Eaglewings Ventures in August last year.
Xovian competes directly with the likes of Pixxel, SatSure, Dhruva Space, among others in the country’s rapidly scaling spacetech market, which is expected to reach a size of $77 Bn by 2030.
With deeptech slowly emerging as a key sector for investors, spacetech startups are seeing a lot of interest from investors. In February, Inc42 reported that Dhruva Space was set to net $4.2 Mn, while Bellatrix Aerospace raised $20 Mn last month.
