L Catterton Backs InMobi-Backed Glance To Expand Its AI Shopping Business In US

Consumer-focused investment firm L Catterton has made a strategic investment in InMobi-backed AI shopping platform Glance to support its expansion, with a particular focus on the US.
The companies did not disclose the investment amount or other transaction terms. Sources told Inc42 that the investment was a fresh equity infusion
L Catterton said it will use its consumer and category expertise, operating capabilities, and global network to support Glance’s growth.
Glance uses agentic AI to understand consumers’ interests and preferences and recommend products across smartphones, connected TVs, and other digital platforms. It aims to help users move from product discovery to purchase on devices they already use.
Through partnerships with Samsung, Motorola, and DIRECTV, the platform is already available on millions of devices across the US.
Glance founder and CEO Naveen Tewari said the investment validates the company’s approach to shopping, which aims to move commerce beyond search towards agentic shopping.
L Catterton global CEO Scott Dahnke said Glance combines a differentiated shopping proposition with broad distribution across the screens consumers use throughout the day.
From Content To Commerce
Founded in 2019 by InMobi’s four cofounders — Naveen Tewari, Piyush Shah, Abhay Singhal, and Mohit Saxena — Glance initially curated content on smartphone lock screens.
Its original offering had built a user base of 300-400 Mn as of May 2025 without a separate app and attracted around $500 Mn from investors, including Google, Mithril Capital, and Jio Platforms.
Its move into AI shopping took shape publicly in April 2025, when president and COO Piyush Shah previewed the offering at Inc42’s ‘The GenAI Summit’. Shah demonstrated how users could upload a selfie to generate images of themselves wearing different outfits.
Glance subsequently launched its generative AI shopping app in India in May 2025, following a soft launch in the US. Users could visualise themselves in suggested outfits, save the images as wallpapers, or proceed to purchase.
At the time, Glance described three technology layers: a commerce model for discovery and recommendations, a generative AI model for visual experiences, and a transaction model to enable purchases. It had also partnered with Myntra in India and brands in the US to facilitate shopping.
