Amazon India’s Quick Commerce Orders Growing 25% MoM: CEO Jassy

Ecommerce giant Amazon is clocking healthy growth on the quick commerce front. During the company’s Q1 earnings call, CEO Andrew ‘Andy’ Jassy claimed that its quick commerce platform, Amazon Now, is clocking 25% month-on-month (MoM) growth in orders in India.
There was no clarity on how many orders Amazon Now managed to process during the quarter. Meanwhile, Jassy claimed that subscription-tier (Prime) users in the country tripled their shopping frequency after commencing usage of Amazon Now.
“… We continue to expand our ultrafast delivery service, Amazon Now, which offers delivery in 30 minutes or less on thousands of items. It started last year in India, where orders are increasing 25% month over month, with Prime members tripling their shopping frequency once they start using it,” added the Amazon CEO.
Launched initially in India last year, the ecommerce major has scaled the service to nine countries, including the UAE, Mexico, Egypt, and the UK. Offering deliveries in under 30 minutes, the company plans to roll out Amazon Now to more countries in the future.
The comments come as Amazon is pushing the pedal on scaling quick commerce operations in the country. Earlier this week, the ecommerce giant said that it plans to expand Amazon Now to 100 cities across India, including Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Jaipur.
As part of this, the company has set its eyes on growing its dark store network to more than 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs) in the country. The expansion is part of Amazon India’s ₹2,800 Cr (about $300 Mn) investment announced last week, which largely go towards bolstering quick commerce and logistics operations.
With this, Amazon is looking to play catch up with homegrown giants like Eternal-owned Blinkit, Swiggy’s Instamart, Zepto and Flipkart Minutes that have grown steadily over the past few years. Amazon entered the quick delivery arena just last year, more than five years after Zepto and Blinkit first began capitalising on the ultrafast segment.
Since its launch in June 2025, Amazon Now has expanded to Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bengaluru and operates a mere 300 MFCs. In contrast, Blinkit leads the market with over 2,200 dark stores at the end of March 2026, while Instamart operated over 1,100 such facilities, as of December 2025. Minutes also scaled to 800 dark stores in the first quarter of 2026.
At the heart of all this is India’s growing quick commerce market, which is projected to become a $40 Bn opportunity by 2030.
During the earrings call, Amazon CEO Jassy also said that it has expanded its AI-powered ad tool, called CreativeAgent, to India. Under this, the company offers an AI agent that plans and executes the entire ad creative process.
Meanwhile, Amazon reported a revenue of $181.5 Bn in the quarter ended March 2026, up 17% YoY, while net income (or profits) rose 77% YoY to $30.3 Bn. The company said that its Q1 net income also included pre-tax gains of $16.8 Bn from investments in Anthropic.
