Ola Electric Launches S1Z Escooter With Bharat Cell LFP Battery

EV maker Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z electric scooter range with its indigenously developed Bharat Cell lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, targeting the mass-market electric two-wheeler segment.

The S1Z will be available in two battery variants, with the 3.1 kWh version priced at an introductory ₹79,999 and the 5.1 kWh variant at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the 3.1 kWh variant are set to begin in December 2026.

The 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants offer an IDC range of up to 179 km and 301 km, respectively. The S1Z is the first scooter range from Ola Electric to feature its 46-series LFP Bharat Cell technology.

The battery technology has been developed at Ola Electric’s Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory. 

In an exchange filing, the EV company said its in-house cell manufacturing has helped lower battery costs, allowing it to bring LFP technology to more affordable price points.

In a post on X, chairman Bhavish Aggarwal said Ola Electric was setting a “new benchmark” as India’s electrification accelerates. “More than just a metal body with a fancy name,” he said, while highlighting the S1Z’s 46-series LFP Bharat Cell.

“The industry has always treated affordable scooters as stripped-down products: less range, less technology, more compromise. We’ve done the opposite,” Aggarwal said. 

He added that Ola Electric had built the cell, motor, vehicle, software and “every critical component” in-house, and was passing the technology advantage to Indian customers.

Shares of Ola Electric were trading 4.70% higher at ₹39.42 on the BSE at 12:10 IST.
