YOGa Bags ₹20 Cr From Info Edge, Others To Scale Clean-Air Solutions

Clean tech startup YOGa Clean Air has raised ₹20 Cr (around $2.1 Mn) in its Series A round, in a mix of primary and secondary deals, led by Info Edge Ventures. 

The round, which marked the startup’s first external funding, also saw participation from Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal and Three Words Capital. While ₹10 Cr was raised via primary capital, the remaining ₹10 Cr came from secondary transactions. 

The startup plans to deploy the fresh capital to deepen its presence in existing markets and expand its footprint to new Tier I and tier II cities. YOGa Clean Air also said that a chunk of the capital will also be utilised to deploy its clean air solutions on public transport and at other outdoor spaces.

Speaking with Inc42, YOGa founder and CEO Sachin Panwar said that the startup is eyeing ₹100 Cr in revenue this year.

Founded in 2010 by Panwar and formally established as YOGAN Solutions Pvt Ltd in 2019 with cofounders Deepak Raina and Gaurav Nagar, YOGa builds indoor air-quality systems. The startup claims that its systems clean the air across an entire room or building, instead of treating only a limited area like a conventional air purifier.

Its Clean Air Bubble system filters outdoor air before bringing it indoors and uses positive air pressure to keep polluted air from entering through doors, gaps and other openings. The system also monitors and manages carbon dioxide (CO2) levels to keep indoor air fresh.

The system can be installed through a small opening in a wall or glass and is designed to maintain positive air pressure across an entire indoor space. YOGa claims that its system can deliver equivalent air quality across a house in about 55 minutes, while using roughly 70 watts of electricity during continuous operation.

According to Panwar, YOGa follows a service-led model instead of a one-time hardware sale. 

The startup added that its systems are already operational across 11 Indian cities and serve around 5,000 families, schools, offices, hospitals and gyms. It also claims to have undertaken projects for government institutions, including deploying its systems in parts of the Delhi High Court.

The startup also claims to have signed projects with real estate players to deploy its solutions. “Earlier, we were mostly doing retail. Now B2B is actually shifting. Orders are coming from large real estate projects and institutions,” Panwar said. 

YOGa Clean Air competes with the likes of domestic startups such as Airth, Clairco, Ubreathe and Atovio, which offer indoor air-purification solutions ranging from AC retrofitting to plant-based technology.

The fundraise comes as persistent pollution is pushing the demand for indoor air-quality solutions beyond conventional air purifiers. As per reports, India’s air purifier market is projected to become a $1.2 Bn opportunity by 2030.
