US-based startup accelerator Y Combinator has sold shares worth ₹1,435.2 Cr in Groww parent Billionbrains Garage Ventures through a bulk deal, marking another partial exit from one of its most successful India bets.

According to BSE bulk deal data, Y Combinator, through its affiliate YC Holdings II LLC, sold 7.47 Cr shares of Groww at ₹192.16 apiece yesterday.

At a weighted average acquisition cost of ₹3.45 per share, the shares sold had cost Y Combinator about ₹25.77 Cr. The latest transaction, therefore, translated into a return multiple of nearly 55.7X.

Following the latest stake sale, Y Combinator has cumulatively realised around ₹4,132 Cr from its Groww investment.

This includes ₹1,054.8 Cr realised through the OFS component of Groww’s IPO in November 2025, when it sold 10.54 Cr shares, marking a 29X gain on its initial investment. It made another ₹1,642 Cr through block deals in May this year after the expiry of the IPO lock-in period.

Despite the latest sell-off, Y Combinator remains a significant shareholder in Groww, the second largest after VC firm Peak XV. At the end of June 2026, it held 61.48 Cr shares of Groww via two vehicles – YC Holdings II and YCCG21 L.P., translating into a 9.8% shareholding. With the latest sale, this has gone down to 8.6% held through 54.01 Cr shares.

The stake sale comes about three months after several early Groww investors partially exited the company following the expiry of the IPO lock-in period.

Peak XV Partners, Ribbit Capital, and Y Combinator collectively sold 29.52 Cr Groww shares, equivalent to a 4.7% stake, for about ₹5,325 Cr through bulk deals in May.

Groww made its stock market debut in November 2025 in what was then India’s second-largest fintech IPO. It got listed at a premium of 14% to the issue price of ₹100 per share.

Groww’s shares have since risen about 71% from their BSE listing price and nearly doubled from their IPO issue price. The stock has gained about 4% over the past three months and 24.9% on a year-to-date basis.

Groww also delivered strong financial performance in the first quarter of FY27, reporting a 94.3% YoY jump in consolidated net profit to ₹735 Cr from ₹378.4 Cr in the year-ago quarter. Operating revenue jumped 66% to ₹1,501.4 Cr during the quarter under review from ₹904.4 Cr in Q1 FY26.

At 11:40, shares of Groww were trading at ₹194.75 on the BSE, up 0.54% from the last close.
