Verlinvest, Mirchandani Family Raise Stakes In Epigamia In $20 Mn Secondary Deal

D2C brand Epigamia’s existing shareholders Verlinvest and the family of its late cofounder Rohan Mirchandani have increased their stakes in the startup through a secondary transaction valued at $20 Mn.
Sauce.vc also joined Epigamia’s cap table as part of the transaction. The deal involved the purchase of shares from existing investors and did not result in any fresh capital infusion into the startup.
DSG Consumer Partners and Deepika Padukone’s investment firm KA Enterprises were among the selling shareholders in the transaction. The selling investors sold a portion of their stakes.
Verlinvest first backed the startup in 2016 as part of its $6 Mn Series A funding round. It subsequently increased its stake through participation in multiple funding rounds.
“The strengthened commitment from Verlinvest, the Mirchandani family, and the new institutional commitment from Sauce is a strong endorsement of the business we have built and the opportunity ahead,” Epigamia CEO Ritesh Gauba said.
He added that the transaction would give Epigamia a stable shareholder base to support its next phase of growth.
To date, Epigamia has raised around $60 Mn from investors including Verlinvest, Danone Manifesto Ventures, DSG Consumer Partners, Padukone, among others.

The secondary transaction comes a few months after Epigamia appointed Gauba as its CEO in May. He has more than 24 years of experience in the FMCG sector and has previously worked with companies including Mars and Britannia.
Around the same time, Epigamia elevated COO Ankur Goel to the role of cofounder. Following Mirchandani’s death in December 2024, Goel had been overseeing the startup’s operations alongside cofounder Uday Thakker and growth head Ajinkya Poundrik.
Founded in 2015 by Mirchandani, Thakker, Krishnamoorthy, and Rahul Jain, Epigamia began as a Greek yoghurt brand before expanding its portfolio to include artisanal curd, snack packs, mishti doi, and smoothies.
The startup sells its products through its website, ecommerce and quick commerce platforms, and offline retail stores. It claims to have a distribution network spanning more than 25,000 retail touchpoints across over 30 cities.
Epigamia is yet to file its financial statements for FY25. Its net loss declined almost 74% to ₹17.4 Cr in FY24 from ₹67 Cr in the previous fiscal year. Operating revenue rose 3.3% to ₹173.7 Cr from ₹168.1 Cr during the period.
