Spiritual tech startup Utsav has secured ₹36 Cr ($3.8 Mn) in a Series A funding round led by Atomic Capital. Existing investors — India Quotient and Equanimity Investments — also doubled down on their erstwhile investment in the Kolkata-based startup.

The startup, which offers a community-led marketplace for faith and divinity, plans to use the fresh capital to accelerate product development, its tech stack, and fuel growth initiatives as it builds a digital layer connecting devotees, temples and rituals across India.

“Our most loyal devotees now book rituals every few days across several temples, and the messages they send us after a puja are the real measure of what we have built. This round lets us serve that devotion at scale, with trust, authenticity and the spirit of bhakti at the heart of every experience,” cofounder and CEO Sourajit Basu said.

Founded in 2021 by Basu, Ankita De and Prajata Samanta, Utsav enables works with temple priests, spiritual scholars and acharyas to offer authenticated rituals and devotional services on its platform. Currently, the startup claims that its platform fulfills 2.5 Lakh orders per month.

With the capital, Utsav App is planning to widen its services for the Indian diaspora over the next 12–24 months and scale its presence across the devotional ecosystem.

Prior to this round, the startup raised ₹6.4 Cr in January 2025, to expand its operations by onboarding additional temples and boost technology with AI features. Since then, it claims that its revenue has grown 8X.

Utsav’s latest funding comes amid an increasing uptick for the Indian spiritual tech segment. To note, Delhi NCR-based astrology platform AstroTalk became the first startup unicorn to emerge within this segment, after an ESOP buyback at a valuation of $1 Bn, earlier this month.

Besides, smaller, emerging spiritual tech platforms have also been seeing increased investor appetite in recent times. Last year, AppsForBharat raised ₹175 Cr ($20 Mn) in its Series C funding round, to expand its operations across more than 20 temple towns such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Ujjain, and Haridwar.

Meanwhile, spiritual tech startup VAMA raised ₹22 Cr ($2.5 Mn) in its pre-Series A round to expand into new categories such as spiritual ecommerce and offline spiritual travel.
