SoftBank Sells ₹2,900 Cr Stake In Lenskart Via Block Deals

Adding to its Lenskart windfall, global investment firm SoftBank has now offloaded 4.50 Cr shares in the eyewear retailer to rake in ₹2,887.9 Cr.
As per BSE data, the investor, via its holding entity SoftBank Vision Fund (SVF) II Lightbulb (Cayman) Ltd, sold the shares at an average price of ₹641.75 apiece, a 3% discount to the stock’s last closing price.
This is the second major partial exit for SoftBank in Lenskart after the eyewear giant’s listing. Earlier in June, it sold shares worth 5.65 Cr shares in a block deal for ₹2,873.3 Cr.
Despite the June stake sale, SoftBank held 9.79% stake or 17.14 Cr shares in the company at the end of June 31, 2026.
European financial giant Societe Generale emerged as the single largest buyer, mopping up 1.1 Cr shares. Goldman Sachs secured 84.3 Lakh shares through two entities while Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund picked up 47.7 Lakh shares.
Additionally, HSBC Mutual Fund bought 32.6 Lakh shares, while several investors linked with US investment firm Vanguard cumulatively bought 36.9 Lakh shares.
HDFC Mutual Fund, Ghisallo Capital, BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley, and Kuwait Investment Authority were among the other major buyers who picked up some of the shares sold by SoftBank.
The deal comes amid a significant bullish trajectory that the stock of the eyewear retailer has maintained in recent times.
After a muted debut on the bourses in November, Lenskart’s shares have surged more than 69% from its listing price of ₹390. While the stock ended the day’s trading session 0.67% lower at ₹656.95, it has zoomed by about 50% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis.
The bull run has allowed other institutional backers — KKR, ABG Capital, Alpha Wave, TR Capital, ADIA — to pare stake in the eyewear major since lock-in expiry on May 8.
The strong movement of the new-age tech company has been supported by its improvement bottom line position since listing.
Lenskart achieved its maiden full-year profitability in FY25 and saw its net profit more than double to ₹530 Cr in FY26 while registering a 32.3% uptick in revenue to ₹9,002.3 Cr.
In Q1 FY27, its bottom line more than tripled YoY to ₹228.4 Cr while operating revenue jumped 43% YoY and 8% QoQ to ₹2,714.2 Cr.
While announcing its results, Lenskart also disclosed a series of investments to bolster its international businesses. These included a ₹10.6 Cr in Singapore-based Baofeng Framekart Technology Ltd, a JV between subsidiary Lenskart Solutions Pte Ltd and Geng Yongchao, a ₹20 Cr towards expanding its step-down subsidiary, OWNDAYS, into the Republic of Korea and setting up a new step-down subsidiary in China.
However, in a separate development, Lenskart reported a cyber incident that affected a sub-vendor of its Singapore-based group company earlier last week.
