Pocket FM CFO Anurag Sharma Steps Down

Anurag Sharma, the CFO of audio entertainment platform Pocket FM, has stepped down from his position to explore entrepreneurial opportunities.

“Anurag Sharma has decided to move on from Pocket FM. He has been an important part of the company’s journey and has made meaningful contributions over the years. We thank him for his partnership and leadership during his time here, and wish him the very best as he explores entrepreneurial opportunities ahead,” Pocket FM said in a statement.

The development was first reported by Entrackr.

Sharma joined the audio entertainment platform in 2021 as the vice president of finance. He was elevated to the role of CFO in 2023. During his tenure, Sharma led the company’s financial strategy, investor relations, compliance, and business operations.

Prior to joining Pocket FM, he held leadership positions at companies like BK Birla Group, Busana Apparel Group, Ninjacart, among others.

Founded in 2018 by Rohan Nayak, Nishanth KS, and Prateek Dixit, Pocket FM is an audio streaming platform offering content across multiple languages and genres. Backed by Lightspeed, Stepstone Group, Tencent, and Times Internet, the startup has raised $196 Mn to date. It was last valued at $750 Mn during its $103 Mn Series D funding round in 2024.

Pocket FM competes with the likes of Kuku FM and Amazon’s Audible.

Last month, Pocket FM cofounder and CEO Nayak said the startup’s ARR stood at $430 Mn (₹4,000 Cr) in March 2026. Additionally, he also claimed that Pocket FM was free cash flow positive at nearly 5% EBITDA without specifying any time period.

The startup claimed its revenues grew 68% to ₹1,768 Cr in FY25 from ₹1,052 Cr in the previous fiscal, positioning it at the centre of Indian audio OTT market, which is projected to become a $3.2 Bn opportunity by 2030.

Pocket FM’s competitor Kuku FM is currently gearing up for a $200 Mn IPO. In December, the soonicorn appointed bankers Kotak Mahindra Capital, Axis Bank and Morgan Stanley to helm its potential public listing.
