Listed edtech major PhysicsWallah (PW) has acquired an additional 11% stake in UPSC coaching institute Sarrthi IAS for a cash consideration of ₹71.81 Cr, increasing its holding in the company from 40% to 51%.

The acquisition is part of the shareholders’ agreement and share purchase agreement PW signed with Sarrthi IAS and its promoters on September 2, 2025, to acquire up to 85% of the company’s fully diluted equity share capital in six tranches between FY26 and FY31.

Founded in 2016 by Alakh Pandey, PhysicsWallah began as a YouTube channel offering coaching for competitive examinations before expanding into a full-fledged edtech platform. The company listed on the stock exchanges in November 2025 at ₹145 per share, a 33% premium to its IPO issue price of ₹109.
