MapmyIndia Appoints Ex-CEO Rohan Verma As Joint MD

Over a year after stepping down from the role of CEO and executive director, Rohan Verma has taken charge of the geotech major as its joint managing director (MD), effective July 1, to rein the company’s charge in the AI era.
“Rohan Verma will, along with the team, lead the advancement of the company’s AI-native deeptech products and solutions, with a strategic focus on building future-ready, technology-driven innovations, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), geospatial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced deep-tech technologies to address evolving customer and market needs,” chairman and managing director Rakesh Verma said.
Rohan served as the CEO of MapmyIndia for almost six years till March 2025, when he stepped down to focus on scaling a B2C business. MapmyIndia had planned on hiving off its B2C business under the new entity the departing CEO was planning on building.
Back then, MapmyIndia made an initial investment of ₹10 Lakh to acquire a 10% stake in Rohan’s new business, with plans to infuse another ₹35 Cr in the form of compulsorily convertible debentures (CCDs).
With mounting investor scrutiny on plans on hiving off the B2C business, the geotech company had reversed its decision and decided not to make any equity or debt investment in the new entity.
Subsequently, in May 2025, Rohan was reappointed as managing director for MapmyIndia’s video mapping subsidiary Mappls DT and GPS-based fleet management and data analytics solutions subsidiary Gtropy.
Important to note that Rohan, who is the son of MapmyIndia cofounders Rakesh Verma and Rashmi Verma, has been working with MapmyIndia since 2004, under various leadership positions. He has also worked with global brands such as Microsoft and McKinsey and Company, holding an overall experience of about two decades.
The appointment of Rohan comes at a time when MapmyIndia is ramping up distribution of its mapping solutions both on the B2C and B2B front.
During the company’s fourth quarter earnings call, Rohan Verma mentioned that MapmyIndia’s APIs and SDKs have been integrated into platforms of quick commerce players like Zepto and Amazon Now recently. So every user on Zepto and Amazon Now will be able to view Mappls.
On the financial front, MapmyIndia’s net profit for Q4 FY26 rose by 4% to ₹50.9 Cr from ₹49 Cr in the year-ago quarter. Aligning with the bottomline’s performance, operating revenue rose marginally to ₹145 Cr during the quarter under review from ₹143.6 Cr in Q4 FY25.
Following the announcement, shares of MapmyIndia jumped as much as 9% during intraday trade. As of 14:54 IST, the stock was trading 5.47% higher at ₹854.70 on the BSE.
