Lenskart Increases AjnaLens Stake To Over 9% To Deepen Smart Glasses Push

Lenskart has increased its stake in extended reality (XR) startup AjnaLens’ parent Dimension NXG with an ₹8 Cr investment to deepen its bet on smart eyewear and wearable technology.
In a regulatory filing, Lenskart said it acquired an additional 1.8% stake in AjnaLens for ₹8 Cr. Following the transaction, its holding in the startup increased to 9.01% from 7.21% earlier.
The latest acquisition follows two earlier purchases this year. Lenskart acquired an additional 0.68% stake in AjnaLens in February and 1.69% in July. Together, the three transactions increased Lenskart’s stake by 4.17% from its earlier holding of 4.84%. The aggregate consideration for these three acquisitions stood at ₹18.5 Cr.
Lenskart said the investment is aimed at strengthening its strategic association with the XR, AI and smart wearable technology ecosystem, while supporting technology-led opportunities in smart eyewear.
It first invested an undisclosed amount in the startup in July last year with an aim to develop AI-powered smart glasses. At the time, Lenskart said the partnership would combine its expertise in frame design and engineering with AjnaLens’ XR technology capabilities.
Founded in 2014 by Pankaj Raut, Abhijit Patil, and Abhishek Tomar, AjnaLens provides hardware and software solutions using XR technology. It uses XR to provide learning solutions and claims to cater to defence, enterprises, and more sectors. The startup reported a turnover of ₹10.4 Cr in FY26, down 19% YoY from ₹12.8 Cr in FY25.
Lenskart has since steadily expanded its smart eyewear play through the launch of its Phonic audio glasses and its upcoming AI-powered smart glasses. The company has also partnered with Qualcomm for its smart-glasses technology stack.
The continued push toward smart eyewear comes as the company said its B by Lenskart smart glasses crossed 30,000 users on the waitlist at the end of FY26. Globally, smart glass shipments jumped more than 1,000% in 2025 despite a slowdown in smartwatches and hearables, as per IDC data.
Founded in 2010 by Peyush Bansal, Neha Bansal, Amit Chaudhury, and Sumeet Kapahi, Lenskart is an omnichannel eyewear retailer serving customers in India, the UAE, Singapore, and Japan. It operated 3,459 stores across India as of June 30, 2026.
In the first quarter of FY27, its net profit surged 273% to ₹228.4 Cr from ₹61.2 Cr in the year-ago quarter. Operating revenue jumped 43% YoY and 8% QoQ to ₹2,714.2 Cr.
