Groww Promoter Group Entities Pledge 1.9 Cr Shares To Aditya Birla Capital

Groww promoter group entities — Mufasa, Thousand Oaks Trust and Fortune First Trust — have each pledged 62.5 Lakh shares to Aditya Birla Capital for “personal” reasons on March 20, the company informed in its exchange filings today.
The pledges were created on March 13, 2026, with Aditya Birla Capital Limited acting as the lender and were carried out on Friday. Based on the stock’s closing price of ₹161.2 on March 20, the 1.88 Cr shares pledges are worth about ₹302.3 Cr.
Groww has not issued any public statement regarding the pledges so far.
All three entities, which are a part of the promoter group, are linked to Groww’s cofounders Lalit Keshre, Harsh Jain, Ishan Bansal, and Neeraj Singh, sources told Inc42. Groww’s promoter group held about 27.8% stake in the company at the end of the December 2025 quarter, while 72.2% stake was held by public investors.
The company went public in November 2025, raising $754 Mn at a valuation of $6.9 Bn. The stock debuted at ₹112 on the NSE, above its ₹100 issue price, and has since risen to around ₹161.
The development comes at a time when Groww is doubling down on asset management as a core business vertical beyond its broking roots.
In January 2026, the company agreed to sell a 23% stake in its asset management arm, Groww AMC, to State Street Investment Management for about ₹580 Cr, valuing the business at roughly ₹2,500 Cr, a sharp jump from the ₹175.6 Cr it paid in 2023 to acquire Indiabulls’ mutual fund business.
As of December 2025, Groww AMC managed assets worth about ₹4,118.8 Cr (₹41,188 Mn) across 1.2 Mn investors.
On the financial front, the company reported a 25% YoY and 18% QoQ jump in operating revenue to ₹1,216.1 Cr in the third quarter of FY26. While PAT declined 28% YoY to ₹546.9 Cr due to a high base from a one-off gain last year.
Shares of Groww ended today’s trading session 0.62% higher at ₹162.2 on BSE today.
