AI Entertainment Startup Mythik Raises $5 Mn at $50 Mn Valuation
Jason Kothari’s Mythik Bags $15 Mn To Recreate AI-Based Indian Mythology Content

AI-powered entertainment startup Mythik announced the raise of $5 Mn (₹48.4 Cr) in fresh funding from investors like Dream11 CEO Harsh Jain, Blume Founder’s Fund, ex-McKinsey & Co Rajat Gupta, Bharti Mittal Family Office’s Zubin Bharti Mittal, Point 72’s private investing head Ishan Sinha and SVAR Projects’ Rooshabh Shah.

Existing investors including Sakal Media Group, Patni Family Office, Parekh Family Office, also participated in the round. Mythik’s founder and CEO Jason Kothari also participated in the fundraise.

With the round, Mythik claims that its valuation crossed the $50 Mn mark.

This round follows the startup’s seed round last May in which it raised $15 Mn to scale up its content and tech stack. The startup said that the round will help it build a “category-defining tech-first global entertainment company, rooted in the rich storytelling of Eastern mythology, folktales and history”.

Founded by Kothari in 2025, Mythik uses AI to recreate Indian mythology, history and folk stories into short, high-quality videos, each lasting 10-12 minutes. It claims to reach a 3.5 Bn strong global audience.

The fresh round of funding comes at a time when media companies are increasingly relying on AI to speed up content generation and engagement with audiences. For example, Pocket FM, which claimed EBITDA profitability recently, attributed this achievement to its pivot towards AI.

Investors have also backed startups in this space like Mugafi, which leverages AI to help filmmakers and writers create content online. The company raised a $3 Mn seed funding round last year.

Many believe that building AI-native startups for consumers is a gold mine, thanks to India’s nearly 950 Mn internet users and mobile-first consumption habits. Yet, given the wide spectrum of linguistic and cultural diversity in the country, India remains a particularly difficult market to crack, especially from a monetisation perspective.
