Adani Group In Talks With Google, Meta To Set Up Data Centres: Report

Adani Group is in talks with big tech firms Meta and Google to explore partnerships for its data centre business.
Walmart-owned ecommerce major Flipkart is also in talks with the port-to-power group for this endeavour, and the conglomerate is scouting sites across the country to set up these centres, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.
At the ‘India AI Impact Summit’ last month, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani announced a $100 Bn investment by the group in India’s sovereign AI infrastructure by developing renewable energy-powered data centres by 2035.
The group is yet to finalise the sites for setting up data centres and the talks are still in preliminary stages, the report added.
Questions sent to Adani Group didn’t elicit any response till the time of publishing this story.
In October last year, Adani Group announced a partnership with Google through its joint venture arm AdaniConneX to set up India’s largest AI data centre campus and new green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam through a $15 Bn investment. It is expected to be Google’s largest data centre outside of the US.
Tech giants in India and beyond are racing to set up data centres in the country, driven by rising AI adoption and abundant land availability. According to Economic Survey 2024-25, India’s data centre market is projected to reach a size of $11.6 Bn by 2032, registering a 10.98% CAGR from $4.5 Bn in 2023.
Industry estimates suggest India’s installed data centre capacity will double to 2 GW in 2026 from the previous year and is expected to exceed 8 GW by 2030.
Adani Group is among a host of other companies that have made major investment commitments for the sector in the past year or so. In 2025, ChatGPT parent OpenAI announced plans to set up a 1 GW capacity data centre in India. It is in talks with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to build AI compute infrastructure in the country. Last year, TCS raised an over $2 Bn investment from global asset manager TPG for the growth of its AI data center business, HyperVault.
Besides this, Reliance plans to build a 3 GW facility in Jamnagar and a 1 GW project in Visakhapatnam to build AI-ready data centre infrastructure, for which it is expected to invest north of $11 Bn. Amazon also plans to invest $12.7 Bn billion on cloud infrastructure in India through 2030.
